An access point (AP) is a networking device that connects wireless devices to a wired network. APs are made up of at least one wired network port, an onboard computer, and one or more radios. The computer uses the radios to listen for and emit radio waves according to one or more public standards. This allows the AP to communicate with other devices that use the same standards and radio frequencies.
